our Purpose, intention, and reason

My name is Hannah Galante, and I am the Founder of Veteran Resume U.S.A. As a Marine Corps veteran, I learned the hard way how important post-service career stability truly is. Less than a month before my EAS (end of obligated military service), my family moved to Australia, and I was left to figure out where I was going to live and where I was going to work. I had no plan. The Marine Corps’ Transition Readiness Seminar was not helpful, and everything in the course was just to put a check in the box, and to kick you out the door. I remember staying up late and working on my resume. I watched dozens of resume writing videos, read resume writing articles, and learned how to transcribe my military skills into something a civilian employer would understand. Once I had completed my resume, I submitted it to multiple job applications via LinkedIn all across San Diego. After I had applied for over 20 jobs, I had gotten multiple phone calls back from employers or from HR representatives and they wanted to take it to the next step, an interview! I had interviewed via phone for the company Liquid IV as a project manager, however, I still had a couple weeks of obligated service when they needed someone by the end of the week. I had eventually landed an interview for a Project Management position for a large construction company in downtown San Diego. I made the drive on one of my days off (I was a shift worker), completed the interview, and by the time I had gotten back to 29 Palms, I had received an official letter from the company with my confirmed salary and job expectations. I WAS HIRED. Just like that I was getting out of the Marine Corps and jumping right into a job, but this job was paying 67k a year. I knew when I opened that email that my life was going to change forever and if it wasn’t for my resume, I wouldn’t have been so lucky with call-backs and interview opportunities.

Since 2017, I have worked continuously to help service members and veterans feel encouraged and empowered as they transition out of the military or change career paths. I know that my services can help prevent homelessness and veteran suicide. A good resume, a good job, and financial stability can save someone’s life. I want other service members and veterans to know that their intangible skills are highly valued in the civilian sector, and it is my mission to ensure that their resumes reflect accordingly.

The biggest takeaway in my life through hardship is knowing that effort needs to be made in order for change to happen. It is important to be proactive before and after military service. I am hoping that I can give guidance or provide extremely low-cost services to any service member or veteran who needs it. Just reach out and I can guide you in the right direction.
